इंग्लैंड में मकान-मालिक को हर उस मंज़िल पर स्मोक अलार्म लगवाना होगा जहाँ रहने की जगह है, और ऐसे हर कमरे में कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड अलार्म लगवाना होगा जिसमें कोई स्थिर दहन उपकरण (fixed combustion appliance) है, सिवाय गैस कुकर के।
संक्षेप में: The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 के अनुसार, जिसे 2022 में संशोधित किया गया, हर उस मंज़िल पर कम से कम एक स्मोक अलार्म होना ज़रूरी है जो रहने की जगह के तौर पर इस्तेमाल होती है, और हर उस कमरे में कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड अलार्म होना ज़रूरी है जिसमें गैस कुकर के अलावा कोई स्थिर दहन उपकरण है। हर नई टेनेंसी के पहले दिन अलार्म काम करने चाहिए।

मकान-मालिक की ज़िम्मेदारियाँ:

- हर नई टेनेंसी के पहले दिन जाँच करें कि अलार्म काम करते हैं, और इसका रिकॉर्ड रखें।
- खराबी की सूचना मिलने पर अलार्म की मरम्मत करें या उसे बदलें।
अगर मकान-मालिक पालन नहीं करता, तो काउंसिल रेमेडियल नोटिस दे सकती है और उस पर £5,000 तक का जुर्माना लगा सकती है।
