الالتزام وارد في اللائحة 36 من لوائح الغاز (التركيب والاستخدام) لعام 1998:
- فحص كل جهاز غاز ومدخنة يوفرهما المالك المؤجر مرة كل 12 شهرًا على الأقل.
- تسليم نسخة إلى المستأجرين الحاليين في غضون 28 يومًا من الفحص، وإلى المستأجرين الجدد قبل انتقالهم إلى المنزل.
- الاحتفاظ بالسجلات لمدة سنتين على الأقل.
- الفحص الذي يُجرى قبل موعد الاستحقاق بما يصل إلى شهرين يحتفظ بالموعد السنوي الأصلي.
تشمل الأجهزة المواقد والمدافئ الغازية التي يوفرها المالك المؤجر؛ أما الأجهزة التي يملكها المستأجر فلا تشملها، لكن أنابيب الغاز تشملها.
تأجير المنزل دون سجل صالح يُعد جريمة جنائية، وقد يمنع استرداد الحيازة بموجب بعض الأسباب.
